PROJECT BASICS
Lenox Flats is a $1.7 million historic restoration project in downtown
Missoula. The Lenox has 10 one-bedroom apartments and a common
room and serves residents who have incomes between 25% and 50%
of the Area Median Income. Lenox Flats was completed in 2001.
INNOVATIONS
The 1905 Lenox building is a part of the National Register of Historic
Places. This type of historic preservation is considered an important
example of sustainable building as it conserves materials and
uses the existing infrastructure. The Lenox Flats project included
asbestos removal on-site job training for women. To help offset
rent costs, homeWORD rents out 2,500 square feet of street-level
commercial space for fair market value.

content carpeting made of PET pop bottles
- Salvage and
demolition contract to reduce on-site waste during construction
and ensure
that building parts and historic features were reused
NEIGHBORHOOD
Lenox Flats is located in downtown Missoula within walking distance
of 2 grocery stores and several downtown shops. The building
is located across the street from the city courthouse and just
down the street from city hall and the city bus depot.
