Homebuyer Educator

Alex was our landlord liaison from 2019 to 2022. During that time, Alex participated in our first-time homebuyer class and individualized counseling. Afterward, he and his partner, Shannon, were able to purchase a house together. Excited to pay it forward, Alex rejoined Homeword as our homebuyer educator in 2025. Using his previous experience at Homeword and in banking and lending, he provides homeownership counseling and teaches our homebuyer education class.

Missoula has been home to Alex since he moved here in 2003 to attend the University of Montana, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in media arts. While in college, he fell in love with the trails, rivers, mountains and a Butte girl, so he decided to make Montana his permanent home. He is passionate about Montana and helping others jumpstart their homebuying journeys.

At the Homeword office, Alex often has his West Highland terrier, Maggie, in tow. When Alex isn’t at work, you can find him mountain biking or skiing.

Alex has completed NeighborWorks America’s Homebuyer Education Methods course, certifying him in homebuyer education delivery.  He is also a HUD Certified Housing Counselor and has achieved his NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership Education and Counseling (NCHEC) Certification in Pre-Purchase Homeownership Education.
