Allison is the managing partner of Orion Planning + Design, a multi-disciplined firm specializing in place-based solutions and collaborative engagement. She has more than 20 years of professional planning and design experience in the public, private and nonprofit sectors, with a focus on collaboration as a means of achieving positive outcomes.
Over the course of her career, Allison has gained wide-ranging experience working with communities from Mississippi to Montana to Maui on comprehensive plans and implementation through zoning and development code, grounding processes in robust engagement efforts that link input with outcomes and foster meaningful partnerships resulting in sound policy and planning decisions. She is an AICP certified professional planner and an active member of the American Planning Association (APA), currently serving her second term as the Region V Board Director for APA and having served as president of APA’s Western Central Chapter (2012 and 2017) and as a member on the Montana Association of Planners (MT APA) Board of Directors between 2013 and 2025. Alllison holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Miami University (OH) and a master’s in urban and environmental planning from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Prior to joining Orion, Allison began her career in Montana as a long-range planner in Flathead County, transitioning to the Montana Department of Commerce as the Community Planning Bureau Chief for the Community Development Division in 2012.
In her free time, Allison enjoys riding her horses, Sonata and Vibrante. She also enjoys running excessively long distances and exploring Montana and the Intermountain West on foot, bike, ski or by boat with her dog Izzy and husband Drew!
