Homeword Brings In-Person Homebuyer and Financial Classes to the Flathead Valley

Montana – Homeword has begun offering in-person homebuyer and financial education classes in the Flathead Valley, expanding access to face-to-face learning opportunities for residents in northwest Montana.

In partnership with NeighborWorks Montana, Homeword now serves as the official HUD-approved housing counseling provider for Lincoln, Flathead, Lake and Sanders counties. While Homeword has long offered online classes and one-on-one counseling statewide from its office in Missoula, starting this spring the organization will bring regular, in-person financial and homebuyer education classes directly to communities in northwest Montana.

Homeword has two scheduled upcoming in-person classes in Kalispell. Get Ready for HomeOwnership will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Kalispell at Flathead Valley Community College and costs $35 per person. Financial Skill Building will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. in Kalispell at the Community Room at 2510 U.S. Highway 2 East and is offered free of charge.

According to a recent report from the Northwest Montana Association of Realtors, the housing market in the region is starting to slow down, increasing opportunities for new buyers to reach their goals of homeownership.

“I am so excited to bring in-person homebuyer education back to the Flathead,” said Alex Ramsing, Homeword’s homebuyer educator. “And I am looking forward to strategizing with each community to meet their unique needs.”

Homeword’s classes are designed to equip participants with the tools and confidence to move forward with their goals, from strengthening personal finances to preparing for the homebuying process. Participants will learn from nationally certified educators and local industry experts. Realtors, mortgage lenders, loan officers and other experts living and working in the Flathead Valley will bring trusted knowledge and practical, real-world experience to the classes.

“The topics that we touch on allow community members to laser focus their finances on individual goals,” said Homeword Financial Educator Chelsea Nichols. “This empowers you to make educated financial decisions.”

Community members interested in participating in upcoming classes can learn more, register and apply for childcare subsidies at https://www.homeword.org/classes or by calling 406-532-4663.
